OFF-GRID by Katažyna Jankovska

Off-Grid
We rely on systems we hardly notice until the lights go out or the network fails. In those moments, another kind of knowledge emerges: DIY solutions, forgotten analogue technologies, and collective ways of making and being. Edited by Katažyna Jankovska, Off-Grid collects stories of protest infrastructures, internet cables stretched between apartment blocks, an attempt to build a toaster from scratch, and a research capsule designed to operate in isolation for up to 120 days. It explores what autonomy can mean in a world built on fragile, interconnected systems.
The design is built around the moment a system fails. Bright red and bold typography borrow from danger and warning signs to signal urgency, while the layout keeps the calm of a contemporary art book, leaving space to read and reflect.
