YAGA Gathering 2026

For this year's edition, the YAGA Gathering team wanted an identity built around networks, interconnected systems and a laboratory atmosphere. The theme drew on mycelium, but the aim was to move past familiar mushroom imagery and focus instead on the invisible structures and communication networks that run through all living systems. The festival also hosted a laboratory space where visitors could look at different organisms under microscopes, inviting curiosity and scientific exploration.

Slime mould (Physarum polycephalum) became the core of the identity. It is a single-celled organism that grows into branching networks, connecting food sources along the most efficient paths. It is a living example of the communication systems that can be found on the forest floor. Identity was developed together with with the organism: cultures were grown in Petri dishes and documented through photography. These images became the basis for the festival's art direction, visual identity and merch, applied across posters, social media, T-shirts, tote bags, hoodies, beach towels and more.
